SCOTTISH RITE

There are some couples you just get. Caroline and James were that for me from the very first hello. We bonded over Portlandia, Star Trek, Caroline & I’s love for choir, & her incredible taste in music.

I knew this day was going to be special. When you bond with your couple over the things that make you you, the whole day feels less like a job and more like spending a Saturday with friends who happen to be the two most in-love people in the room.

The Vibes:

The Scottish Rite Cathedral is an Indianapolis venues that does half the work for you. It has the most ornate details, history, warmth, and every photographer’s dream, stained glass windows. Even with it’s immense scale & so many guests gathered to celebrate them, the day never felt anything but intimate. That's the magic of Caroline and James.

We started the morning with getting ready at the Bottleworks Hotel & went straight into their first look‍. After we finished up there, we ventured around downtown for the rest of their pre-ceremony photos.

Their ceremony genuinely had the whole room laughing and crying. Their officiant did such a beautiful job and Caroline & James wrecked me with their vows. STUNNING.

The Party

The reception is always one of my favorite parts of a wedding but Caroline & James know how to throw a party. (In fact, I ended up hiring their DJ for my own wedding because it was so much fun!)

Their first dance was to "Rainbow Connection" from The Muppets. I cried. They had their guests on the balcony overlooking them which was a first for me! It felt like a period drama ballroom scene but with Kermit serenading everyone.

The prayer before dinner was sung by Caroline & her choir members who were in attendance. So unique & so them. I could genuinely go on and on about this wedding. Their parents also surprised them with a choreographed dance to Abba halfway through the reception.

And the exit? They left on a tandem bicycle. A literal two-seater, pedaling off into their happily-ever-after together while everyone cheered. It was the most Caroline and James thing imaginable.
